Straight teeth and beautiful smiles are achievable. Most teeth imperfections can be corrected without the need for brackets and wires. Orthodontic treatment is easily accomplished with the help of Invisalign® aligners at our office in Los Gatos, CA. The aligners have beautifully corrected teeth imperfections in many of our patients. The aligners are easy to use and very comfortable to wear, which makes them the preferred choice for orthodontic treatment. Another major advantage of our treatment procedure is that patients feel good about themselves during the treatment since they do not have to wear unsightly braces.
Invisalign® aligners are an innovative product developed in 1999. The aligners are designed to avoid the need to wear ugly and uncomfortable brackets and wires. The aligners are made from special BPA free plastic. The appliance fits neatly over the teeth and causes no discomfort to the cheeks. There are a series of aligners given to patients during the treatment. Each set of aligners are designed to move the teeth stage by stage. Dr. Negari checks the progress of the treatment every six weeks or so. During these appointment, we check how well the teeth are moving and deliver your next set of aligners. The treatment may take place for 12-18 months depending on the condition of the patient's teeth.
Invisalign® aligners are an orthodontic solution to a number of problems. Teeth can be improperly positioned from birth or may change position during childhood. These incorrectly positioned teeth ruin the beauty of your smile and harm your oral health, as it is difficult to clean teeth when they are misaligned. Invisalign® aligners can cure many of these problems by correcting the teeth through application of continuous pressure. Some of the major dental problems cured by Invisalign® aligners are:
Crowded teeth – Teeth which are overlapping because lack of space in the jaw bone for proper growth.
Too much spacing between teeth – This may happen due to overly grown jaws or from tooth loss which causes teeth nearby to move.
Over bite – The upper jaw teeth are slightly ahead of the lower jaw teeth when they come together in the bite.
Cross bite – Teeth of the lower jaw and upper jaw do not perfectly align over one another in the bite.
The treatment with Invisalign® aligners is a step-by-step process. Initially, we check the complication in the positioning of the teeth. If there are any dental infections, steps are taken to cure them. Once Dr. Negari determines that Invisalign® can do the job, he goes on to explain the treatment process to the patient. Impressions of teeth are taken in order to develop a 3D digital image in the lab. A treatment plan is set based on the image and Dr. Negari can show the expected results to the patient. The treatment starts with the production of the first pair of aligners in the lab. These aligners are specially made for every patient. The aligners should be worn for at least 22 hours each day. Patients can remove aligners when cleaning their teeth and when eating. Patients should regularly visit our dental office every few weeks as per the advice we provide. These visits can help check the progress of the treatment. While the aligners are being worn, the patient can only consume water. Most cases require the placement of tooth colored attachments, which allow for the required movements. The attachments can vary in size and shape, such as square, triangular, or tear drop. The position of these attachments are unique to each case and is dependent on how we need to move the tooth.
